Using Ground Coffee Take Your T-Bone to the Next Level

Coffee Rubbed T-Bone Steaks

If you are craving a juicy, perfectly cooked T-bone steak, then we have the recipe for you: coffee-rubbed t-bone steaks!  This recipe takes your everyday coffee grounds and adds one-of-a-kind seasoning to any T-bone. Simple to prepare but with big returns on flavor, we hope you will give this a try using your American Barbecue Systems grill to get it just right.

Let’s Get Prepped Up

For this recipe you will need these ingredients:

  • 4 T-bone steaks (3-4 inch)
  • 1 tbsp freshly ground coffee
  • 1 tbsp Kosher Salt
  • 2 tsp freshly cracked pepper
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp granulated garlic
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp thyme

Take the dry ingredients and add them together in a small mixing bowl and blend together well. Apply this mixture evenly and generously over the t-bones.  To finish prep, go ahead and get your American Barbecue Systems grill preheated to medium-high and soon you will be all set and ready to go!

There’s Nothing To It

Allow your seasoned steaks to sit for fifteen minutes while your grill reaches medium-high heat. Place the steaks on the grill and grill on each side for about 4 1/2 minutes, as this will give you a medium-rare steak.  Make sure to allow your steaks to rest for at least 7 minutes after you remove them from the grill in order to ensure the juices redistribute.  A chef’s note: By using lump charcoal and your grill feature, you can have it up to temperature in 15 minutes, with only 3 lb. of charcoal.
